Welcome to The Realm of Azalore

A brave knight dedicated to upholding the laws of justice...
A thief who slips into the homes of the wealthy to steal from the rich and give it to themself...
A wizard who has devoted their life to protecting an ancient artefact...
An ordinary person destined to one day become a god...
All of these stories are waiting to be told.
...They could be told by you.

Welcome to The Realm of Azalore, a living, persistent fantasy world where your character's choices matter.
Unlike many role-playing communities, Azalore is not a game with a predefined story for every player to follow. There are no "main quests" or predetermined heroes. Instead, the world exists independently of any one character, and every player has the opportunity to leave their mark upon it.
Whether you aspire to become a renowned knight, an infamous outlaw, a powerful mage, a wealthy merchant, a humble farmer, or something entirely unique, your journey is yours to shape.

A Living World
Azalore is a world that continues to evolve regardless of whether your character is present.
Kingdoms rise and fall. Guilds form and collapse. Wars are fought. Ancient ruins are uncovered. Trade routes prosper or disappear. The actions of players can influence the direction of history, but no individual exists at the centre of the world.
Every character is one person living within a much larger setting.

Collaborative Storytelling
Roleplaying in Azalore is a collaborative experience.
You control your own character—their thoughts, actions, decisions and personality.
When your actions begin to affect the wider world, a Storyteller steps in to portray the people, creatures and events around you. Storytellers ensure that the world reacts fairly and consistently to the choices made by players.
Rather than writing a story alone, everyone contributes to a shared narrative.

There Are No Winners
Azalore is not about "winning."
Characters will succeed.
Characters will fail.
Some will become legends.
Others may die forgotten.
Both outcomes—and everything in between—create memorable stories.
Failure is often just as interesting as success, and unexpected consequences frequently lead to the most rewarding roleplay.

Play the Character, Not the Statistics
Your character is more than a collection of skills and abilities.

Yes, your character will improve their skills over time. They will learn new techniques, discover new talents, and grow stronger through their experiences. But these exist to serve the most important part of your character—the story that only you can tell.

Their fears. Their ambitions. Their beliefs. Their friendships. Their rivalries. Their flaws.

These are the qualities that make a character feel like a real person, rather than simply a collection of statistics.

It is these moments of triumph, failure, sacrifice and growth that players remember long after the battles have been fought and the treasures have been claimed.

Characters who feel like real people create richer stories—not only for themselves, but for everyone around them.

Take Your Time
There is no race to reach the highest level or obtain the best equipment.
Some players may spend months managing a business.
Others might dedicate themselves to political intrigue, magical research, exploration or military service.
Progress happens naturally through roleplay, and every path is a valid one.

Before You Begin
New players should read the following topics in order:
1. How to Create Your Character
2. How Roleplaying Works
3. What Is a Storyteller?
4. Forum Rules
These guides will provide everything you need to begin your adventure in Azalore.
Welcome to the Realm.
The story of the world has already begun.
Now it is your turn to become part of it.
